Approximately 5 years ago, a transformation began to take place in my life. At that time I was definitely going through a very low valley. With a broken and contrite heart I cried out to the Lord. The Scripture given to me was Daniel 10:12 “Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.” That’s when the adventure began. The Lord began to reveal areas in my life that I needed to address. As the Holy Spirit led, I obeyed. I was so excited about the spiritual awakening that I was having. The first person I thought of and wanted to share the news with was Eydie Miskel. I eagerly attended the next Sunday Service (up until this time I had not been attending church faithfully) at the church where we both attended. I wanted to share the exciting news with her. But when I arrived she was not there. I had been informed that she had gone on a mission’s trip to Africa. All I could think of was WOW! So while I waited patiently for her to return, the Holy Spirit had impressed on me the need to have accountability partners. Once again I obeyed. I took a piece of paper and wrote down 5 names. I began to seek each person and asked if they would pray with me and informed them of how the Holy Spirit was working in my life. By that time Eydie had returned from her trip. I shared with her that God was dealing with me in such a powerful way that I needed to take the time to schedule a meeting with her.

At that meeting we both began to share the exciting news of how God was working in both our lives. We were amazed at how we were both going through similar experiences but in different settings. That’s when I told her that I knew that God wanted me to have an accountability partner and asked if she would be that person. Of course because of her heart and her love of the Lord she said yes. She immediately began to pray for the both of us. With tears in our eyes we knew then that God had carefully orchestrated this union. I could say, “and the rest is history,” but we both knew it was only the beginning. This was the beginning of a deep and intimate walk with God. He daily reveals to us the need to go out and spread the good news. He wants us to share with those that are less fortunate and to give the reason we have hope. God has great and wonderful things to come! Through my friend and sister in Christ, I have been blessed to be a part of the vision for Africa and am honored to be a team member of Raining Hope as Secretary.
